Summary of events May 18

• The Hawaii Police and Fire Departments are no longer participating the the search effort, due to official policy which sets a 3-day threshold
• The search efforts continue through the kind participation of volunteers from  H.U.R.T. Hawaii, Hawaii Trail and Mountain Club and Search and Rescue Hawaii
• The volunteers report of difficult terrain to search in 
• The first day of volunteer-only searches covered significant ground, but did ultimately not succeed in finding Are.
• Ares family and the close friend Anders are on their way to Hawaii to help out.
