- Hawaii Trail and Mountain Club will join for the weekend
- Anders and Ares family have arrived at the search site. Anders reports of very dense vegetation, and that too few people involved in the search.
Hi.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering where the search has been held.
I find it likely that Are could have come to the point "N" on the map in the article http://findare.blogspot.com/2011/05/information-from-experienced.html
...and I'm concerned that he tried to descent the steep slopes somewhere north of this point. If he was tired, and tried to avoid climbing up, I think this could have been a possibility. Some images from the area (Google earth etc.) actually looks nice for running (on the flatter parts), in an orienteers mind. Areas that look dangerous for some people, would look just challenging for others (especially experienced orienteers like Are). From the top of the ridge, maybe it doesn't look that bad compared to the maps?
I'm convinced Are is off-track somewhere, and I find this area very interesting to search.
Is there a map with information on which areas that have been searched?
Cheers to all the volunteers! You do a great job!

This is Prasad. Today, our usual members from UH have indicated that they are unable to join in the search today. I am trying to get some people to go in the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck.
